Prepare for battle against Georgia on September 13, 2025, at Neyland Stadium. This tip sheet provides key insights for defeating the Bulldogs.
Offense runs pro-spread under Kirby Smart with a heavy use of tight ends, formation variety, and shots off play-action when the QB is protected.
With Carson Beck gone (elbow injury late 2024, then transferred to Miami), expect Georgia to lean into two-TE sets while they retooled offensive line and OL and QB Gunner Stockton settle in. Look out for a good bit of 12-personnel.
Gunner Stockton is a red-shirt junior. He was highly recruited coming out of the state of Georgia and can make all the throws. He has solid athleticism, as well.
Offensive Coordinator likely will lean on the offensive line early to establish the run game. That was an emphasis off-season and coming into this season. That can only be of help to support Stockton's play. A few linemen are dealing with minor injuries.
Georgia’s defensive identity for 2025 remains consistent and clear: They are a primary 4-2-5 Nickel Defense with a mix of 4-3.
While there are legitimate questions about whether they can recreate past dominance, especially in run stuffing and generating turnovers, they have ample talent, coaching continuity, and a fresh influx of playmakers. That includes new addition from Army, Edge player Elo Modozie.
Georgia runs a 4-down front with disguised blitzing and sound zone coverage in Quarters behind it. The pass rush is notable typically.
Quarterback
Gunner Stockton: R-Junior replacing Carson Beck. Showed poise in SEC Championship, strong debut vs. Notre Dame with 234 passing yards. Agile, accurate game-manager upgrading Georgia’s offense.
Running Backs
Nate Frazier had a strong freshman season and will carry the load mainly this year. He’s a dynamic runner and projects to be among the leading rushers.
Offensive Line
There’s a bit of a re-tooling going on, but Micah Morris (R-Sr.) gives a veteran presence at left guard, and Earnest Greene is a top draft prospect. Greene and several others on the O-line are little banged up, so watch for that.

Stop the run on early downs and force Stockton to full-field reads; 2025 3rd-down rate (44%).
Match size outside (Thomas/Young) and tackle in space vs Branch on bubbles/jet/return-game touches.
Account for TE seams and crossers in the high-red zone. UGA's offense is coming off a lethargic performance which leaves room for the Vols' defense to have a strong day.
Pursue relentlessly and maintain rush lane discipline.
Georgia added LB Elo Modozie (Army transfer) who brings pass-rush ability with 6.5 sacks in 2024. They return alongside Jordan Hall and Xzavier McLeod. Joséph Jonah-Ajonye, Nasir Johnson, and Nnamdi Ogboko should provide solid support. Features pre-season all-conference DE. Disruptive front four.
Veteran LB CJ Allen anchors the unit that includes Raylen Wilson and sophomores Justin Williams and Chris Cole, all poised to increase their on-field roles.
Senior Daylen Everette is among the leaders on the back half of the defense, although he's battling an injury. KJ Bolden also is a big name in secondary. Georgia's unit ranks among the best in the nation and got the season off to a good start against Marshall.
